About Airport ZZZ

Welcome to Airport ZZZ(or Airportzzz.com)!

I’m Nathan Kip, your go-to airport travel expert, specializing in enhancing comfort during layovers and sleep experiences at airports here in the US and abroad.

Alongside a dedicated team of fellow travel enthusiasts and researchers, I’ve turned my passion for jet-setting into a resource for fellow travelers seeking the ultimate in airport comfort.

My journey began with a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from St. Lawrence University, followed by a vibrant seven-year stint in the finance sector, focusing on clean energy. I started as an Analyst at General Electric before launching a fintech startup, although I couldn’t scale it—it was quite the wild ride! I learned a lot!

However, my true calling lay beyond the confines of office walls—I was meant to roam the skies and explore the myriad lounges and terminals across the globe.

The transition was sparked by a profound interest in how travelers can best experience airports—not just as transit points but as spaces to relax, rejuvenate, and recharge.

This led me to invest hundreds of hours in exploring airport terminals, sleeping in various nooks, and testing emerging sleep technologies first-hand. From sleep cabins and pods to innovative sleep capsules, I’ve become a connoisseur of airport sleep solutions, always hunting for the best options to recommend.

With 500+ Layover Hours, you Could say I Know Airport Terminals More than my Living Room

With over 500 layover hours under my belt, it’s safe to say that I’ve grown more familiar with airport terminals than my own living room. I’ve transformed these experiences into insights that I share here on Airport ZZZ, helping you find perfect spots for a sleepcation right in the heart of bustling airports.

When I launched this site, my initial plan was to fly to different destinations to enrich my airport content development. Of course, my plans were halted when my wallet proclaimed “abort mission”. Thinking back, that was super cool.

Imagine booking a flight from New York’s JFK to major international hubs like London’s Heathrow, Beijing Capital, or Singapore’s Changi, solely to explore their offerings.

Upon landing, my mission was to leisurely wander through the terminals, discovering the best spots for rest, and checking out sleep amenities such as pods and designated sleeping areas. After taking a nap and experiencing these facilities firsthand, I document everything—taking notes and photos—before updating the sleep guides on this blog and flying back. Pretty well-thought-out plan.

Unfortunately, the high costs associated with these bookings led to a swift reassessment of my plans.

So, I’ve been sneaking in airport exploration during my regular travels—mostly domestic flights within the US and a few international escapades to places like Kenya. Asia remains an elusive destination for me, but hey, it’s good to have a least-traveled spot on the map! ✈️😄 I still have a goal to visit all the airports that have installed sleep pods.

Call me AirSleepert or AirZZZspert (Airport Sleep Expert)

Who needs a vacation when you can have a sleepcation, right? 😴✈️ Call me AirSleepert or AirZZZspert, your Airport Sleep Expert. I’ve embraced my new title, AirSleepert, the Airport Sleep Guru, as I’ve practically become a pro at dozing off in terminals! 😴✈️..

I’ve practically taken root at JFK with all the layover hours I’ve clocked. I could probably navigate all the nooks and crannies blindfolded! At this time, I can dictate those final boarding announcements in all JFK terminals and not miss the airline name.

With my extensive knowledge of airports, especially JFK, I’ve been thinking that if this site doesn’t become sustainable soon, my backup plan is to charm PANY management (JFK owners) to hire me to manage their information desk. I’d make a great one!

Curious snoozing flier:

I don’t just snooze around and interrogate airport sleep tech. I’m on a mission to uncover the secrets of the slumber in transit.

Particularly, I have been very curious lately about the place of traditional airport hotels located within airport terminals and those close to airports in light of airport sleep innovations.

The allure of their usual enticing offers of complimentary free shuttles and free breakfast is diminishing at certain airports where in-terminal sleep solutions are readily available and thriving. It’s been fun to observe that.

I am here to help

In a nutshell, I’m here to rescue tired travelers like you from pricey hotels and uncomfortable airport benches and get them to the comfort of the latest sleep tech gear.

My singular mission?

Finding you the perfect sleep setup at the airport, whether it’s a cozy airport hotel or a futuristic sleep pod so you can snooze in style!

If you need Airport ZZZspert when on a layover, that’s what I am here for…to help travelers like you find the most comfortable sleep solutions at airports.
